Kyle Samuelson is one of the most in demand trombonists in Wisconsin and now holds the trombone faculty position at Carroll University. He comes to Carroll with a substantial and diverse background in low brass performance. Not only does Kyle regularly perform on tenor and bass trombone, he is also regarded as one of the top low brass specialty performers in the area and is often called when euphonium or bass trumpet is needed.
Currently Kyle is the principal trombonist with the
Fox Valley Symphony in Appleton, the
Festival City Symphony of Milwaukee, the
Racine Symphony and
The Skylight. He is the second trombonist with the
Green Bay Symphony and the bass trombonist with the
Waukesha Symphony. Kyle performs regularly with the
Milwaukee Symphony and the
Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra as well as the
Kenosha Symphony,
Bel Canto Chorus Orchestra, Present Music and the Florentine Opera.
When not performing in a symphony hall, Kyle can often be seen playing out with
The Mr. Lucky Syndicate, a band that performs a mixture of Swing and R&B music,
Grupo Kaña (Sugar Cane), a hot new Salsa band featuring two trombones, and
Skeleton Crew, a jazz group featuring four trombones.
International artists such as
Kansas, Peter Cetera, Josh Groben, Dennis DeYoung, Yes, Doobie Brothers, and
Three Dog Night regularly call on Kyle to back them when on tour.
Kyle has also performed with several nationally touring Broadway productions such as
The Lion King, Annie, Peter Pan and
Chicago. As a recording studio session artist, Kyle has worked on several
Fireside Theatre productions as well as numerous CDs for various groups.
In 2005, and again in 2008, Kyle was selected from hundreds of applicants from all over the world to participate in the prestigious
Alessi Seminar which is a week-long, intensive, performance driven seminar hosted by Joseph Alessi, the principal trombonist with the New York Philharmonic.
